Located in a sleepy little section of Richmond, Virginia’s historic Near West End, we are a fine and fancy gift studio dedicated to carrying a well-curated selection of thoughtfully made candles, fragrances, award-winning small batch foods, books, bath and body products, accessories, and greeting cards from around the world. Our current holiday hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm and from 12:00 am until 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The store is perfectly poised for easy access off the Downtown Expressway (195) and just happens to be located next to the best takeout in Richmond (Stella's Grocery).

When KK Harris and her now husband Austin were married in June of 2014, she realized how time and labor intensive it was to put together truly thoughtful “wedding welcomes” for RVA out-of-towners. She had to go to 13 different stores to find everything she wanted, and in some cases, had to make things by hand that she wasn’t able to source. She had the idea for the business concept while studying Innovation Design Thinking that same summer (which focuses on solving human problems) and incorporated in October 2014.

After leaving an innovation role at Altria in March 2016, KK worked from home for nine months to further develop the retail concept and prototype boxes for House of Floralie. In December 2016, the House of Floralie storefront opened.

House of Floralie is co-owned by husband and wife team, KK and Austin Harris. When Austin is not busy as CFO of Richmond, VA based natural foods company Health Warrior, he helps out with the books.

KK envisioned a gift box bar where customers could grab a beautiful gift box and curate thoughtfully made things for that special someone. As a result, House of Floralie carries a wide range of products and categories, including fragrance, fine and fancy foods, stationery, books, and beauty products.

Many of the items at House of Floralie are imported from abroad just for the store, including Charbonnel et Walker Truffles from London, and Lola James Harper Fragrance and Candles from France. The store offers gift wrapping services with beautiful wrapping papers that are designed in-house and printed in RVA, sells Italian ribbon of many colors and widths by the yard, and offers complimentary calligraphy for customer gift tags.

House of Floralie's core value is transparency. The team strives to understand where everything sold to customers is made and that it is done so under ethical conditions, both human and environmental. Working with manufacturers who provide deeper insight into where and how their products are made is important to the team. If companies do not know the people who make their products, or the conditions in which they work, the team will consider this a red flag. As a result, the products sold have rich maker stories, which elevates the gift-giving process. There are a few limited exceptions in store (mostly books), and the team is happy to discuss these with customers, should there be any questions or concerns.
